February 2010 Meeting

To catch everyone up on things since the resident blog editor was not present at the January meeting, annual elections were held for the Stitchin Sistas Guild and Cindy will remain Queen President with Donelle as Vice President. Jayne will remain Secretary and Janet is our new treasurer. Congratulations to a great team!

What a fantastic meeting we all had this month. Things started off with Colleen collecting her various 9-patch blocks from our new monthly "Name Your Block" project. Colleen chose a simple 9-patch block in baby girl colors. Look at all those great blocks! Can't wait to see the finished quilt Colleen!
We moved on to Jayne who shared with us her new simple bag that she created recently - isn't it great!

Colleen is here showing off a new patter she recently bought in Jackson, MS --- oooh circles are fun!

What a fantastic quilt Colleen created here.

Dawn has been busy with her new 6-needle embroidery machine making Mardi Gras wearables!

And here Dawn is showing her completed Quilts for Kids quilt she recently completed. This is a great cause and what a great way to create some quilts for children. The best part is you sign up on their website, they mail you the fabric and patter to complete the top, they even send you backing fabric - you just sew the blocks, assemble the quilt, add your choice of batting and quilt it -- pack it up and send it in! For more information on Quilts for Kids visit their website www.quiltsforkids.org

Great backing fabric too ---

Joanie has been busy making these cute monthly wall hangings available at Bright Hopes Quilting! Cute!

And one of Joanie's recent "blue" quilts!

Jayne shared with us her rag bag creation from the January retreat. Cute!

Cindy showed off an awesome LSU themed quilt for her son!
Cindy's husband has been busy in his workshop - those are carved earings - from some sort of composite material! What a talented guy she has!
Donelle was a busy gal at the retreat and made some wonderful towel-wraps with a girly theme!

And this fantastic quilt for a future grand child!
And last but not least, an exciting demo of the AccuQuilt Go cutter by Jayne - I hope the YouTube link works.
